I think that alan paton is saying os that you must forgive to move on. if you dont forgive the passion and dueling in the past is always going to haunt. you must always move forward and forgive so you can forget. for example the woman in the video if she didn't forgive she would of probably became a bitter old women and never moved on because you cant change the past .
